Thought Before Patrol 3

Sweet softness this summer night
behind the past, looking onward
searching for those times to come
with weapons rusted
and memories, about to fade in grey
never quite knowing the moment
never knowing
what I've learned today
and what I should take
to carry me through another day

To those darkened windows
I have known
locked spaces in times I have known
far yet familiar
twisted, fleeting
farther calls from shore
so do the faces fade
> amidst quiet desperation when the heart becomes the reflection
of the thoughts anticipation
to yet another day
