Grandpa Stover's Topic Recipes

Editors Note: These were my fathers recipes. He named them in honor of his grandfather Stover a quiet, gentle man.

Into a one gallon container, mix the following ingredients, topping it off with a medium strength solution of green tea (do not use decaf tea)

Recipe Ingredients for TERRAtonics Basic Brew

Apple Cider Vinegar 8 ounces
Beer (your choice, your buying) 32 ounces
Dr. Pepper 32 ounces
Kelp (liquid seaweed) 6 ounces
Tea (mild solution, regular green tea) Top off container

The above concoctions will improve your overall health and vigor of your plants, and the soil that nourishes them. Vegetables and fruit yields will contain more nutrition and have better flavor.

Flowers will be larger, will display more vibrant colors and will produce more and more lasting blooms. Your soil and all plants will benefit with an increased resistance to insects, bacteria, fungi and problems created by rapid temperature fluctuations and extermes. Use as follows:

Soil Conditioning

Add 1-1/2 cups fo TERRAtonic Basic Brew and 1 ounce each of molasses, honey, and yogurt to a 10 to 20 gallon hose-end sprayer and set the sprayer to dispense at 1 to 3 ounces per gallon water. Spray all bare ground, mulched ground, grass and ground cover areas wetting everything thoroughly. Late spring, mid-summer and early fall are optimum times to soil condition. Water solution into the soil root zone by applying two to three inches of water over the area after each application.

Foliar Feeding Plants

Into a 10-20 gallon capacity hose end sprayer add 1-1/2 cups of TERRAtonic Basic Brew and 3 ounces of Red Wine, 1 ounce of Molasses, 1 cap full of "Super Thrive" and set the sprayer to dispense solution at 1 to 3 tablespoons per gallon of water. Spray your plants, wetting them thoroughly. Do this once or twice a week during the growing season.

TIPS: For best results, spray during the early morning hours, before 10:00 or early evening, about three hours before sunset. If possible, don't spray during ther heat of day.

Editors Note: My father was always one for tweaking and experimenting. He shared this recipe with me when I was experimenting with organic hydroponic solutions for both passive and active hydroponics systems. I took the TERRAtonics Basic Brew and adapated it quite successfully using a variety of different water soluble amendments.
